5th Jul 2019 19.30 Extraordinary Parish Meeting. There is a threat to the magic and tranquillity of our favourite local beauty spot, Clints Crags. The landowners are developing a planning application to quarry 4-5 million tonnes of stone, over a period of 20-40 years, for use in concrete making. The area they are looking at is adjacent to the Clints and the old quarry, which is now a Special Area of Conservation, and would cover part of the Public Right of Way. There is a real possibility it could go through planning, as there is already a dormant planning permission for the old quarry. Parish Councillors are concerned about the likely impact of blasting, crushing, transport noise and dust on the nearby communities, as well as the environmental impact. We are holding a meeting on Friday 5th July at 7.30pm in the Village Hall to feedback what we have learnt so far, and to gather the views of parishioners, to inform the next Parish Council meeting on 15th July. Please come along if you can.
